NEWS
8th August 2004
Still having computer troubles but I have added a few things today. One cow left to calve now as our record breaking heifer (Cushion - 382 kgs fat - 842 lbs fat) from last season just calved a heifer calf today. Easily the worst winter for milking cows we have had. Since 1st June we have had 37 days rain and 28 days frosts. More mud (and more cold) than ever before and its a wonder the cows are producing anything at all. Milking 70 at present does not help as we were only milking around 40 last year this time. Being over 40% ahead of last season at the factory does however help and that's what its all about. Will start a new page for the new season soon. Still trying to get a working computer. Been looking at some of the great production records from around the world especially from The United States . Top herd there did 11,675 litres milk 4.7% fat 547 kgs fat plus 3.7% ptn 431 kgs protein = 978 kgs milk solids last season from only 14 cows but still it was a herd average. Lots of others not far behind.
29th July 2004
Just got a new web publishing program so hopefully once I learn how to drive it I will be able to update the site a lot better. The 2004 spring calving is nearly over with just 5 cows left to calve. Start date was 10th July so we are still in the first three weeks and have 40/45 in. Very busy and heaps of mud in the races. All 17 cows that have completed a record of 400 kgs fat or higher are currently in the GLENBROOK herd. Out of 71 that will be milked this season they are a large percentage. once you take 24 heifers from this season and 11 from last season off this 71 it can be seen that the 17 are out of 36 cows or nearly 50% of all cows 3 years and older in the herd. And all 17 are from the "C" family. Latest GLENBROOK bull proofs are here.
23rd June
Been very occupied this year and have just added a few records to some pages. Check the home page for hall of fame records. Also Glenbrook herd averages and NZ top herd averages . Hope to get more records up for you soon. Also maybe some more photos. Needless to say we are thrilled with our new record of 363 kgs fat and 603 kgs milk solids. Also 2 cows over 1,000 lb fat records this season so far.
24th January
Finally got Jan test up. Very good as can be seen. 5 cows over 400 kgs fat from Autumn calvers with Cotton breaking all our fat records. Finally a 1000lb fat cow.
5th December
Still no hay in due to heavy rain at end of November. Finished with 124mm rain for November. Another very good herd test for December but yet again below the factory on the day. It does get annoying that every month we are getting less at the herd test than we do at the factory. Three cows over 400 kgs fat already and lots looking good if nothing happens to spoil the season. Top cows and heifers for test.

Got classification back. 2 EX , 8 VG and 10 GP. So at least it will be a lot cheaper in two years time to classify as we won't have to do all the four year olds anymore. Classification results are here. . Also am happy to see Catapult and Commando go up in their proofs over the weekend. Glenbrook bulls - latest proof 15th November 2003. A new record herd test ever for the November one. See above for season's top cows so far. Had Classifiers but under the new system it will be a few days beofre we know what we got. All I know is we got 2 new Excellent cows; GLENBROOK LEMVIG CRUMPET and GLENBROOK PANS CRANBERRY. Not sure of the new system at all. I liked VHC,HC,C. A shame we didn't get to vote on such a major issue.

Finally got around to putting up a new home page. It should be a little easier to look around the site. Updated the following pages NZ top herds each year and NZ herds over 272kgs fat and herds over 4405 litres milk . We had a great year with a record number of herds in both these lists. Also updated GLENBROOK herd averages . We also had a record herd average last season.
